Information and Decision Making

At this workshop, you will learn what community services are available and how to access them. It will help you understand your transferable skills, look at your interests and values, learn how to conduct labour market research and begin setting employment goals.

 
Taking Control of Your Job Search

Is your job search not working for you? Come in and find out the most effective approach to securing employment by going after the unadvertised jobs. This workshop is for all job seekers and is an essential step to success.

 
Effective Resumes and Cover Letters

Will your resume open the door to exciting job opportunities? Find out how to target your resume to a specific job and learn how to write an effective cover letter that entices the employer into reading your resume.

 
Interviewing Skills
Overcome the fear of the interview. Understand the different types of interviews, how to handle key questions and make a good impression. Learn how to be confident and comfortable with the interview process
 
Interactive Computer and Resume Clinic

This clinic will be adapted to the needs of the participants. If you are unfamiliar with the computer, you will be given basic tips and techniques to help you become more confident using it in your job search, using Word, formatting and e-mail. When comfortable with this, you will be provided with web sites that will give you labour market information and assist you in doing company research to find job opportunities.

If you have basic computer skills, you will be given an opportunity to take responsibility for the development of your resume with assistance from the facilitator. You will use the program WinWay to design and format your resume, and select information to target your resume to specific jobs.

 
Putting Your Best Foot Forward
Are you getting your foot in the door? This 2-part workshop will first discuss the tools you need to make the right impression throughout your job search. The second section will look at strategies which will help you remain successful in your new job.
 
Request For Training
Have you met with an EEC counsellor who has completed your needs assessment? Do you need re-training? Attend this workshop to find out if you are eligible for financial assistance provided by HRSDC under the Skills Development Program, to cover all or a portion of your costs. The level of funding is negotiated on an individual basis and is usually covered fro a period of up to one year.
 
Too Young To Retire
Do you feel you are having a harder time finding employment because of your age? The workshop will motivate you to overcome roadblocks to successful employment. It will also help determine who would benefit most by participating in the 3 week Experience Works Program.
